Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,378 km² (532 mi²). 1,335 km² (515 mi²) of it is land and 43 km² (17 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.11% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 84.15% White, 2.19% Black or African American, 6.41% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 3.58% from other races, and 3.41% from two or more races. 7.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,442 households out of which 31.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.40% are married couples living together, 10.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.70% are non-families. 22.90% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 2.97.
