Polk County is a county located in the state of Tennessee. As of 2000, the population is 16,050. Its county seat is Benton6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,146 km² (442 mi²). 1,127 km² (435 mi²) of it is land and 19 km² (7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.65% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 16,050 people, 6,448 households, and 4,752 families residing in the county. The population density is 14/km² (37/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.35% White, 0.14% Black or African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.09% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
