Claiborne County is a county located in the state of Tennessee. As of 2000, the population is 29,862. Its county seat is Tazewell6.
The county is named after William C. C. Claiborne.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,144 km² (442 mi²). 1,125 km² (434 mi²) of it is land and 19 km² (7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.65% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 29,862 people, 11,799 households, and 8,684 families residing in the county. The population density is 27/km² (69/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.79% White, 0.75% Black or African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 0.64% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
