Jackson County is a county located in the state of Tennessee. As of 2000, the population is 10,984. Its county seat is Gainesboro6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 828 km² (320 mi²). 800 km² (309 mi²) of it is land and 28 km² (11 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.34% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 10,984 people, 4,466 households, and 3,139 families residing in the county. The population density is 14/km² (36/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.63% White, 0.15% Black or African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.67% from two or more races. 0.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
