Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 940 km² (363 mi²). 933 km² (360 mi²) of it is land and 7 km² (3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.73% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 10,590 people, 3,832 households, and 2,862 families residing in the county. The population density is 11/km² (29/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 54.88% White, 43.65% Black or African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. 1.06% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
