Geography

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 16,365 people, 6,475 households, and 4,726 families residing in the county. The population density is 14/km² (37/mi²). There are 6,798 housing units at an average density of 6/km² (15/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.83% White, 0.24% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 0.57% from two or more races. 0.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
