Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,415 km² (546 mi²). 1,407 km² (543 mi²) of it is land and 8 km² (3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.59% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 14,761 people, 5,757 households, and 4,075 families residing in the county. The population density is 10/km² (27/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.06% White, 0.75% Black or African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. 0.52% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
