Burbank, Illinois

Burbank is a city located in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 27,902. It is located at the southwest edge of the city of Chicago; the Chicago city limit is in common with Burbank's eastern city limit. Villages with which Burbank shares a boundary are Oak Lawn to its south, Bridgeview to its west, and Bedford Park to its north. The current mayor is Harry J. Klein, who took office in 1991.

The city of Burbank was incorporated on April 4, 1970.
Geography
Burbank is located at 41°44'39" North, 87°46'13" West (41.744082, -87.770226)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.8 km² (4.2 mi²). 10.8 km² (4.2 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 27,902 people, 9,317 households, and 7,267 families residing in the city. The population density is 2,583.5/km² (6,686.7/mi²). There are 9,518 housing units at an average density of 881.3/km² (2,281.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 90.67% White, 0.26% African American, 0.17% Native American, 1.76% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 3.95% from other races, and 3.17% from two or more races. 11.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 9,317 households out of which 34.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.8% are married couples living together, 12.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.0% are non-families. 18.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.98 and the average family size is 3.44.
In the city the population is spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $49,388, and the median income for a family is $56,279. Males have a median income of $38,994 versus $26,651 for females. The per capita income for the city is $18,923. 5.1% of the population and 4.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.4% of those under the age of 18 and 3.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
