Jeffersontown, Kentucky

Jeffersontown is a former city located in Jefferson County, Kentucky. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 26,633. When the government of Jefferson County merged with the city of Louisville, Kentucky in 2003, the city of Jeffersontown was dissolved, and its citizens became citizens of Louisville Metro.

Jeffersontown is located at 38°12'22" North, 85°34'25" West (38.206102, -85.573619)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.8 km² (10.0 mi²). 25.8 km² (9.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.10% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 26,633 people, 10,653 households, and 7,275 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,033.5/km² (2,675.9/mi²). There are 11,220 housing units at an average density of 435.4/km² (1,127.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 86.74% White, 8.65% African American, 0.21% Native American, 1.77% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.14% from other races, and 1.46% from two or more races. 2.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 10,653 households out of which 32.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% are married couples living together, 10.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.7% are non-families. 26.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the city the population is spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 33.4% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.1 males.
