Lyon County is a county located in the state of Kentucky. As of 2000, the population is 8,080. Its county seat is Eddyville6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 664 km² (256 mi²). 559 km² (216 mi²) of it is land and 105 km² (41 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 15.88% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 8,080 people, 2,898 households, and 2,043 families residing in the county. The population density is 14/km² (38/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 91.86% White, 6.72% Black or African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.54% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
