Boone County is a county located in the state of Kentucky. As of 2000, the population is 85,991. Its county seat is Burlington, Kentucky6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 666 km² (257 mi²). 638 km² (246 mi²) of it is land and 28 km² (11 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.16% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 85,991 people, 31,258 households, and 23,443 families residing in the county. The population density is 135/km² (349/mi²). There are 33,351 housing units at an average density of 52/km² (135/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 95.15% White, 1.52% Black or African American, 0.23% Native American, 1.29% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.75% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. 1.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 31,258 households out of which 39.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.60% are married couples living together, 9.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.00% are non-families. 20.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.20% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.73 and the average family size is 3.17.
