ISO 3166-2:GB
|
ISO 3166-2:GB is an ISO standard which defines geocodes: it is the subset of ISO 3166-2 which applies to United Kingdom.
The codes correspond to the nation's administrative divisions:
- England
- 34 counties
- 32 London Boroughs
- 36 metropolitan districts
- 47 unitary authorities including Isle of Wight & Isles of Scilly
- 1 special area
- Northern Ireland
- Scotland
- Wales
The Channel Islands are not part of the UK, but ISO offers codes for them under "GB-".
The first part of each code is the ISO 3166-1 code GB for the United Kingdom, and the second part is a three-letter code, which is the same as in the British Standard BS 6879.
