Olmsted County is a county located in the state of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 124,277. Its county seat is Rochester6.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,695 km² (654 mi²). 1,691 km² (653 mi²) of it is land and 4 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.23% water. It is one of four counties in the state with no natural lakes.

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 124,277 people, 47,807 households, and 32,317 families residing in the county. The population density is 73/km² (190/mi²). There are 49,422 housing units at an average density of 29/km² (76/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 90.33% White, 2.68% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 4.27% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.92% from other races, and 1.51% from two or more races. 2.38% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 47,807 households out of which 35.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.70% are married couples living together, 8.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.40% are non-families. 25.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 3.09.
In the county the population is spread out with 27.00% under the age of 18, 8.50% from 18 to 24, 32.20% from 25 to 44, 21.60% from 45 to 64, and 10.80% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 96.60 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.60 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $51,316, and the median income for a family is $61,610. Males have a median income of $40,196 versus $29,994 for females. The per capita income for the county is $24,939. 6.40% of the population and 3.80% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.70% of those under the age of 18 and 9.50% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
