Hot Springs is a city located in Fall River County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,129. It is the county seat of Fall River CountyTemplate:GR.
Geography
Hot Springs is located at 43°25'52" North, 103°28'39" West (43.431148, -103.477591)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.5 km² (2.9 mi²). 7.5 km² (2.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,129 people, 1,704 households, and 962 families residing in the city. The population density is 547.8/km² (1,417.3/mi²). There are 1,900 housing units at an average density of 252.1/km² (652.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 88.06% White, 0.39% African American, 7.82% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 3.12% from two or more races. 1.91% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,704 households out of which 23.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.0% are married couples living together, 10.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.5% are non-families. 39.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.16 and the average family size is 2.88.
In the city the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 19.4% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 24.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 113.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 106.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $27,079, and the median income for a family is $35,786. Males have a median income of $28,750 versus $18,333 for females.
