Bon Homme County is a county located in the state of South Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 7,260. Its county seat is Tyndall6.
Bon Homme County is the point of origin for the Siberian alien, Tumbleweed, first reported here in 1877, probably introduced in a shipment of flax seed from Ukraine.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,506 km² (581 mi²). 1,459 km² (563 mi²) of it is land and 47 km² (18 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.09% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 95.51% White, 0.62% Black or African American, 2.99% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. 0.58% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,635 households out of which 28.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.80% are married couples living together, 5.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.20% are non-families. 29.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
