WSB-FM

WSB-FM ("B98.5") is an Atlanta radio station that plays adult contemporary music (AC). It is the only Atlanta FM radio station to share call letters with an Atlanta TV station. It is owned by Cox Radio, together with the TV station it shares the callsign with (actually under Cox Television), and several other Atlanta radio stations. During the holidays, the station plays all-Christmas music.
The station has been an AC station since 1980. However, from late 2000 until the fall of 2003, the station played AC on weekdays and '80s music on weekends. This ended when WMAX-FM became an all-80s station.
When it took to the airwaves, WSB-FM initially broadcast under the ID "WSB 99 FM", shifting to "WSB 98.5" with the advent of digital tuning on stereos in the mid-80s. In the early 90s, the station held a contest for listeners to choose a new name for the station. The winner was the slightly anti-climactic "B98.5".
B98.5's primary "listen at work" competitor is WLTM, "94.9 Lite FM".
WSB-FM shares a tower with WPBA TV 30, and in fact shares the same antenna with WSTR FM 94.1 and WVEE FM 103.3. The three stations' transmitters are diplexed together, so that they all feed to the antenna instead of into each other.
This station is broadcasting in IBOC digital radio, using the HD Radio system from iBiquity.
