WNSY (FM)
|
WNSY FM, called "Sunny 100" (exact location: 100.1) is an Atlanta radio station that plays oldies. First applied for in 1995, it went on the air as WCHK-FM in 1998 (the original WCHK-FM is now WLCL FM). In 2003, "Fox 97" was dropped from WFOX FM (and became urban "97 Jamz") and many oldies listeners switched to Sunny 100 or to Cool 105.7 (WLCL FM). In 2004, the station's license was assigned from deceased owner Charles McClure (who also owned the original WCHK AM and WCHK-FM) to wife Dorothy, and to Dean Copelan and SunTrust bank.
WNSY has Talking Rock, Georgia as its city of license, with a transmitter near Jasper, Georgia. Both are to the far north-northwest of Atlanta, well beyond even the exurbs of metro Atlanta. Listening range is most of northwest Georgia, not including south or southeast metro Atlanta very well for the most part.
