Kerry military service
could you say a few words on the new Kerry military service subarticle talk page arguing for your merger proposal? i tend to disagree with the suggestion, but i'd like to hear the arguments for it before making a judgement. thanks. Wolfman 05:03, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Astronomy stuff
- Did you know you're mixing up double stars and binary stars?.
- asterism or Category:Asterims of stars?
- There's a difference between a cluster of galaxies and galaxies that appear close together in the sky.
- Aren't HCG's just a catalog for galaxy Compact Groups (along with SCG), and as such, should appear under Astronomy catalogs, and should separately be listed under galaxy Compact Groups (with an article on why Compact Groups are not clusters, but subclusters in loose clusters, and how they are different from gravitational associations in rich clusters)?
- Shouldn't gravitationally bound systems be separated from visually appearing close together in the sky groupings? I don't see you making a difference between them.
- You might want to edit the stuff you copied off NASA, instead of just pasting it into stub articles, it'll make them nicer.
132.205.15.4 09:05, 3 Oct 2004 (UTC) (though apparently several others also use this address) (my user talk page isn't a good idea, since I don't have one, and it's therefore an anon talk page)

Which articles are you exactly referring to?

Use Category:Asterims of stars for those type of asterims, as the word asterism describes different things (see that same page, it is a disambiguation page).

Yup, which articles are you referring to? I'm lost. :/

Again, which articles are you referring to? I'm completely lost. Category:Hickson Compact Groups was put under Category:Astronomical catalogues by an anononymous user which I presume it was you, so what's the problem? And yeah, they should be separated, but no one has created a separated article for them yet, how about you do so? ;-) Groups and clusters of galaxies might help. ^_^

Which articles that I created fall under this difference?

Most of them are created by PHP scripts. For example, I read the data from SEDS and the PHP script generates the wiki code. It would indeed make them nicer if I had the time to sit down to expand them, but I'm a lazy bastard and I prefer that other people do that for us. =P

How about you register up? See why create an account, it makes communication easier. =) Or you can e-mail me (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Special:Emailuser&target=Joseph_Dwayne) if you want to.
By the way, just be bold in updating pages, it is one of our main policies. If you see an error in a page, or that it misses certain information, just edit the page and fix it.
—Joseph | Talk 18:46, Oct 3, 2004 (UTC)
- Someone (not me) reorganized your asterims.
- When you bot the NASA stuff into Wiki, if you use the keyword "double star" as the categorization key, it will dump binary stars into double stars, because NASA likes to use the phrase double star system (aka binaries). I found and correct a few of them, though I can't recall which they were.
- Cluster/group/subcluster/compact group vs visual groupings: Stephen's Quintet; I corrected it. The Compact group is gravitationally bound together, the nearest galaxy in the Quintet is not bound to them.
- The stuff off NASA is pretty nasty sometimes in wording. Especially when they've obfuscated some meanings.
- Registration? I am an anon user; Anon users are anonymous ;) And if I switch to the surrounding computers, the history trace will be delinquent as well.
- PS: "Extrasolar system" is a very confusing name to use for a category. It can refer to extrasolar planetary systems (and is commonly used as such). I know that by following language rules, extra-"solar system" is just anythng outside the solar system, but the world, and especially English, don't work that way.

Ahhhh.. I see now! Yeah, I wanted to ask you some stuff about Stephan's Quintet, but since you are anon *cough* I had to post my question on one of your talk pages. :p Basically, I couldn't find any info that treat them differently, but I left the articles separated. Yeah, I did create them, but it is expected that someone fixs it if it has incorrect information, like you did. Next time, don't even bother about noting it in the Talk Page, just go ahead, be bold, and separate the articles. As long as no information is lost, there's no reason to complain.
132.205.15.4 wrote:

The asterisms are now under Category:Astronomical asterisms. User:Worldtraveller renamed the category, he has been helping us with astronomical objects also (PhD in Astronomy). Perhaps you two should get to know each other, or participate in WikiProject Astronomical Objects. You are both valuable assets to the pedia.
132.205.15.4 wrote:

Well, if you really want to hide your delinquent history, it would be much better to do so under a username. You see, right now everyone can see your IP, and with minimal knowledge they already know from where are your postings (pretty easy to resolve an IP). When you are registered, only developers are able to see your IP. And since we are not limited to one account, you can have multiple usernames at the same time. ;) In the end, no one is really anon on the Internet... except if you connect from Cuba, China, or some other country with minimal network security. But it seems that you connect from Canada, so why bother? =/

*shrug* How would you classify those all other objects outside of the solar system? "stars that hate sunburn"? :(
—Joseph | Talk 23:59, Oct 4, 2004 (UTC)
- Extrasolar usually means beyond the solar system (and should probably be anything outside of solar space (ie, beyond the heliopause) or not gravitationally bound to the Sun (ie, outside the Oort cloud))
- Ofcourse, just about everything is outside the solar system, so is this really necessary? Just keep things inside the solar system under Category:Solar system, and leave the rest be. If you keep the outside of trend going, you'll end up with ExtraLocal Galactic Arm, ExtraMilky Way Disc, ExtraMilky Way Galaxy, ExtraLocal Group, ExtraLocal Supercluster, ExtraLocal Cluster Cloud, ExtraLocal Filament, ExtraUniversal, ExtraExistential, ExtraExtra.
- ExtraEarth Moon system, ExtraEarth, ExtraMolecular, ExtraAtomic, ExtraIntra...

A big Thank you!!
I just want to say a big thank you for the work you put upon guaranteeing a license from HBO for the photo on the Trinidad versus Mayorga article, as well as the rest of the work you did on it. Thanks to people like you, wikipedia is the excellent, fun and smart website it is.
Thanks, and God bless you!

Operation Just Cause
I added some comments on Talk page for that article.CSTAR 04:18, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)
As I mention in the talk page of the article, the "human rights violation" was only one of the claimed proximate causes of the invasion. Moreover, somebody made some very tendentious (and for the reason I just mentioned inaccurate) edits to the article which could not be easily corrected. Tension between US and Panama seemed neutral enough, And yes, invasions do happen as a result of tension between two countries. As a generic explanation, that seems perfectly accurate.CSTAR 04:44, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Oreo bite.jpg (as Maio). I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? StarCraft category bloat
You might consider letting me make the changes I want, and just looking at the results for a while, and then if they still disturb you, then reverting all my work (which should be easy, since you're an admin and I would be doing the edits all in a row, so all you would have to do is to go down my contribution list and click rollback repeatedly), but, since you're reversing my work in the middle before I can complete it, that's rather pointless. I'm not going to get into an edit war with you over the categories. The comments on Talk:StarCraft seemed to be against you 3 to 1, but right now, I'm tired and sleepy, so if you really want to preserve all those category pages, go ahead, and I won't stop you. --—Lowellian | Talk 08:34, Oct 7, 2004 (UTC)
Lease purchase contract and Real estate contract
Hi.. I see that after splitting Lease/Option into these 2 articles, you put a disputed tag on each of them, but have not explained on the talk pages what about them it is that you dispute? —Stormie 05:50, Oct 11, 2004 (UTC)
EverQuest: Omens of War
Check out the Omens of War article when you have the chance please. How about a List of EverQuest zones instead of listing them all on the EverQuest article? —Joseph | Talk 19:56, Oct 12, 2004 (UTC)
- I never played Omens of War, I will probably have to talk about it with my old guildmates before checking its content.
- As for a list, I am personally against it, probably better to stick to Category:EverQuest zones and add sub categories such as Category:Kunark zones Category:Velious zones.
- On the EverQuest article, we can probably links to the categories instead of listing all zones. I am going to do that. Hashar 20:22, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Man, you are great! When I look at my articles and I see that you've added an image, I tell myself this guy is really something else. How can I show my appreciation? I guess the best way is by telling you that your contributions are wonderful and that they are the best thing that have happened to my articles. You make my articles much better than they are. Thanks, your friend in Wikipedia. (P.S. Could try to get an image of a young Lolita Lebron and add it to my article?) User:Marine 69-71
I forgot, I have a question. Are you a Boricua? If not, where did your interest in Puerto Rico come from?
Thanks again

Puerto Rico Photos
Hi Dwayne! I was told by my dad that you have a lot of photos that have to do with Puerto Rico. I was wondering if you have any of Wilfredo Gomez and of Menudo during the era of Rene, Johnny, Migue, Xavier and Ricly Melendez.
Thank you and God bless you! Sincerely yours, your friend "Antonio Menudo with a punch Martin"
Dear Joseph: Thanks for the Wilfredo Gomez photo!

Article Licensing
Hi, I've started the Free the Rambot Articles Project which has the goals of getting users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to...
- ...all U.S. state, county, and city articles...
- ...all articles...
using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) version 1.0 and 2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to the GFDL (which every contribution made to Wikipedia is licensed under), but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles (See the Multi-licensing Guide for more information). Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. So far over 90% of people who have responded have done this.
- Nutshell: Wikipedia articles can be shared with any other GFDL project but open/free projects using the incompatible Creative Commons Licenses (e.g. WikiTravel) can't use our stuff and we can't use theirs. It is important to us that other free projects can use our stuff. So we use their licenses too.
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual template (or MultiLicensePD for public domain) into their user page, but there are other templates for other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual with MultiLicensePD. If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know at my talk page what you think. It's important to know, even if you choose to do anything so I don't keep asking. -- Ram-Man (comment (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Ram-Man&action=edit§ion=new)| talk) 14:31, Dec 3, 2004 (UTC)

On the vote for deletion of this article, you wrote:
"Are you aware that it was in Moria that James Raynor and Fenix located all the resources for the uprising of Kerrigan? Are you aware of how powerful is the colony of Moria in the Terran Confederacy? Are you aware that it was on Moria that the Argo spaceship crashed on? Are you aware that Moria is one of the original three Terran colonies? Are you aware that Moria formed part of the Kel-Morian Combine in order to supply military aid since they were the richest around the Terrans?"
This is all interesting information, but none of it is in the article. Since you seem knowledgable on the topic, would you mind expanding the article? --L33tminion | (talk) 18:55, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)
Government of Puerto Rico
I noticed the work you've been doing in the article, great stuff. I took the liberty to contribute on the Judicial Branch section. Also, I'm looking forward to work on the Cabinet of Puerto Rico article soon.
By the way, i noticed that the article of Governor of Puerto Rico has the list of ALL the governors, including the ones under spanish rule. I consider this unnecesary, since there is no way possible that every one of this guys will have an article in wikipedia. I have been thinking of completly re-writing this page to make it look more professional, similiar to President of the United States. I look forward to hearing your opinion and to see if we can work in it together. keep up the good work. User: Coburnpharr04 December 16, 2004 7:00 PM, Eastern

Planets of Starcraft
Does it make sense to split Planets of StarCraft? I hope you realize that, if split, articles about Zerus or Aiur have little chance to ever be more than a single paragraph? Planets are a trivial element of the StarCraft universe, and it only makes sense to mention specific planets in the broader context of the StarCraft universe. A single article about Zerus or Mar Sara would have next to no chance to survive VfD. Phils 10:29, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- First off the fact you never saw them being VfD'ed does not mean they couldn't be at some point. You'll also observe there is an extraordinary amount of redundant information across all StarCraft articles. Basically, all are just re-telling the StarCraft story over and over. We already have StarCraft story for this. The same goes for much of Planets of StarCraft. Most of it could just be cut, with links to the StarCraft article. BTW, this is not different information; remember StarCraft is just a game: the different planets do not play major roles (apart from the fact that events a an b happen on Korhal, and events c and d on Tarsonis. It's not like there's a ton of real info about any of the planets in the SC universe. I may be handicapped by my traditional vision of an encyclopedia, but there's nothing I hate more than 2-paragraph articles. Realistically, there will never be much more actual, non trivial information related exclusively to Tarsonis than what we have here in any foreseeable future (and don't accuse me of being short sighted, SC 2 will maybe come out in 3 years time, and there won't be an infinite number of sequels). I'm not against splitting the article by principle, its just that it will be yet another set of hopelessly stubby articles floating around. If you insist though, I'll split Planets of StarCraft myself since I'm responsible for the merge. Phils 16:48, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I have read or played all the official StarCraft games and novels, as well as the authorized third party expansion. Fan stories are too numerous and sometimes contradictory; if at all, they can be covered in the Popularity section of the main Starcraft article, or in a separate fan fiction article if said section grows too big. Ok, I'll split up the article again. However, know that I disagree about planets of StarCraft playing a major role. The battles fought on Aiur are already covered in the Starcraft story article. My point is that planets are just background in StarCraft, and that they are not described in as much detail as locations in Tolkien's work. Many of the articles will be doomed to be stubs forever, unless one stuffs them with "history" information, most of which belongs in the story article. Now on to technical considerations, is the Minor locations in the StarCraft universe really necessary, since we already have StarCraft universe which has a section covering the subject? Phils 19:48, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Just wanted to give notice that I'm done with the splitting of Planets of StarCraft. The article now redirects to StarCraft universe and following planets now have seperate articles: Antiga Prime, Aiur, Braxis, Char, Chau Sara, Korhal, Mar Sara, Moria, Shakuras, Tarsonis, Umoja, Zerus. Notify me if I've omitted any. Phils 21:21, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I have a reguest. I just finished an article about The 65th Infantry. I would like to know if you can get an image of the unit's emblem. I think that it would be a nice addition to the article. Let me know. Thanks Tony the Marine
- Thanks, for the images, I knew that I could count on you. The only thing is, that I'm going to move the page to it's original title The 65th Infantry, because that is the name the Regiment is commonly known here and in Puerto Rico. I hope you understand. Your friend Tony the Marine

Sanchez Vs. Gomez
Hey Joseph...wjhats up? Im Antonio, Marine's son. My dad has told me excellent things about you, you can't believe it. And coming from a Marine, you know its hard to get a Marine to have a wonderful opinion!! :) lol...do I know!!!
Anyways, you know, when Salvador Sanchez beat Wilfredo Gomez, it hurt me as much , if not even more, as it hurt every other Puerto Rican boxing fan. Nevertheless, being the main precursor of the boxing department here and recognizing that fight's historical significance, I went ahead and wrote an article about it even if we lost that one. I obtained permission to use a photo for Salvador Sanchez vs. Wilfredo Gomez, and I saved the phot. Being that Im not too well versed on how to put photos here yet, I wanted to ask you if I could send it to you and you could add it to the article.
Thanks for everything, and God bless you!

Menudo Photo
Dear Joseph: Hi! You know that as a Puerto Rican, Im very proud of the achievements that Menudo did for our country. I was ten when they were at the top, say 81-82, and not only did I like their songs but I wanted to be one too! So I could have a lot of girlfriends! jejeje! Anyways, I wanted to ask you if you could please try to find any photos on the public domain for their article. I would be more than thankful for your effort.
Also, Im working on getting the rights for a photo of a Bar Harbor Airlines airplane to be published here, I find ironic tha such a significant commuter airline (Samantha Smith died on one of their crashes and many believed at the time that the CIA or FBI were behind the case) is not well talked about anymore! I will let you know once I get the right for the photo.
Well, thats all for now. Thanks for everything and God bless you! Have a very good month of May!

Thanks, Jonathan, for the Bar Harbor Airlines photo!
About the Menudo photo, well, dont worry, there are few, if any at all, photos devoted to Menudo on the internet. Now if it was The Beatles! then we'd find thousands. I think it's sad that the one boy band that has given people of other countries an idea of how talented Puerto Rican teenagers can be, has almost nothing written about it on the net, or , at least, no webmasters who are dedicated enough on the few sites that exist about Menudo.
From now on, I will call you the knockout punch of Wikipedia, cause you never see the knockout punch but it sure is effective! You never hear from Jonathan but he sure is effective!!!

I've suggested folks nominating someone might want to puruse this list, although there is certainly no guarantee anyone will ever look at it. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 16:54, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)
