Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,323 km² (511 mi²). 1,200 km² (463 mi²) of it is land and 123 km² (48 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.33% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 97.64% White, 0.07% Black or African American, 0.61% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 1.20% from two or more races. 1.04% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
