According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,475 km² (569 mi²). 1,469 km² (567 mi²) of it is land and 6 km² (2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.41% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 95.82% White, 1.20% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 1.39% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 1.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
