Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 977 km² (377 mi²). 973 km² (376 mi²) of it is land and 5 km² (2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.46% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 93.69% White, 3.00% Black or African American, 1.08% Native American, 0.33% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.46% from other races, and 1.42% from two or more races. 1.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
