Hendricks County is a county located in the state of Indiana. As of 2000, the population is 104,093. The county's county seat is Danville, Indiana6. It is named for former Indiana Governor William Hendricks.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,059 km² (409 mi²). 1,058 km² (408 mi²) of it is land and 1 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.12% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 104,093 people, 37,275 households, and 29,074 families residing in the county. The population density is 98/km² (255/mi²). There are 39,229 housing units at an average density of 37/km² (96/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 96.71% White, 1.12% Black or African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.66% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.36% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. 1.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 37,275 households out of which 39.60% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.10% are married couples living together, 7.70% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.00% are non-families. 18.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
