Clark County is a county located in the state of Idaho. As of 2000, the population is 1,022. The county's county seat is Dubois, Idaho6.

Clark County was established on February 1, 1919, and was named for state senator Sam K. Clark, an early pioneer on Medicine Lodge Creek.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,572 km² (1,765 mi²). 4,570 km² (1,765 mi²) of it is land and 2 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.03% water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,022 people, 340 households, and 257 families residing in the county. The population density is 0/km² (1/mi²). There are 521 housing units at an average density of 0/km² (0/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 74.17% White, 0.10% Black or African American, 0.98% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 23.48% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. 34.25% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 340 households out of which 45.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.80% are married couples living together, 7.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.40% are non-families. 20.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.01 and the average family size is 3.52.

In the county the population is spread out with 35.20% under the age of 18, 8.00% from 18 to 24, 27.50% from 25 to 44, 20.10% from 45 to 64, and 9.20% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 110.70 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 112.20 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $31,576, and the median income for a family is $31,534. Males have a median income of $23,854 versus $20,192 for females. The per capita income for the county is $11,141. 19.90% of the population and 18.70% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 24.10% of those under the age of 18 and 11.70% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
