Caribou County is a county of the state of Idaho. As of 2000, the population is 7,304. The county seat is Soda Springs, Idaho6.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,658 km² (1,799 mi²). 4,574 km² (1,766 mi²) of it is land and 84 km² (33 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.81% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 7,304 people, 2,560 households, and 1,978 families residing in the county. The population density is 2/km² (4/mi²). There are 3,188 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 96.14% White, 0.05% Black or African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 2.20% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. 3.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,560 households out of which 39.60% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.30% are married couples living together, 5.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.70% are non-families. 20.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.83 and the average family size is 3.29.
In the county the population is spread out with 31.70% under the age of 18, 8.20% from 18 to 24, 24.50% from 25 to 44, 22.00% from 45 to 64, and 13.60% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 99.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.60 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $37,609, and the median income for a family is $42,630. Males have a median income of $38,575 versus $20,085 for females. The per capita income for the county is $15,179. 9.60% of the population and 7.00% of families are below the poverty line.
