Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,923 km² (1,901 mi²). 4,839 km² (1,868 mi²) of it is land and 83 km² (32 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.69% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 82,522 people, 28,753 households, and 21,449 families residing in the county. The population density is 17/km² (44/mi²). There are 30,484 housing units at an average density of 6/km² (16/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 92.79% White, 0.49% Black or African American, 0.65% Native American, 0.82% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 3.72% from other races, and 1.46% from two or more races. 6.91% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 28,753 households out of which 40.60% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.00% are married couples living together, 9.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.40% are non-families. 21.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.80% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.83 and the average family size is 3.33.
