Power County is a county located in the state of Idaho. As of 2000, the population is 7,538. The county seat is American Falls6.
Power County was created by the Idaho Legislature on January 30, 1913 by a partition of Cassia County. It is named for the American Falls Power Plant.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 3,736 km² (1,443 mi²). 3,640 km² (1,406 mi²) of it is land and 96 km² (37 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.57% water.

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 7,538 people, 2,560 households, and 1,968 families residing in the county. The population density is 2/km² (5/mi²). There are 2,844 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 83.78% White, 0.09% Black or African American, 3.29% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 11.10% from other races, and 1.38% from two or more races. 21.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,560 households out of which 40.90% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.40% are married couples living together, 8.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.10% are non-families. 20.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.80% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.92 and the average family size is 3.38.
In the county the population is spread out with 33.80% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 25.40% from 25 to 44, 22.00% from 45 to 64, and 10.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 101.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.90 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $32,226, and the median income for a family is $36,685. Males have a median income of $29,676 versus $20,930 for females. The per capita income for the county is $14,007. 16.10% of the population and 10.80% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 20.10% of those under the age of 18 and 12.70% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
