Sierra Vista is a city located in Cochise County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 37,775.

Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 37,775 people, 14,196 households, and 9,993 families residing in the city. The population density is 95.0/km² (246.1/mi²). There are 15,685 housing units at an average density of 39.5/km² (102.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 73.34% White, 10.89% Black or African American, 0.83% Native American, 3.57% Asian, 0.46% Pacific Islander, 6.05% from other races, and 4.86% from two or more races. 15.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 14,196 households out of which 34.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% are married couples living together, 10.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% are non-families. 25.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.96.
In the city the population is spread out with 25.8% under the age of 18, 13.0% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $38,427, and the median income for a family is $44,077. Males have a median income of $30,053 versus $23,805 for females. The city is adjacent to the Fort Huachuca Army Base, an active and historical military base and a communications and information technology hub.
