Parker is a town located in Douglas County, Colorado and is a suburb of the city of Denver. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 23,558.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 37.8 km² (14.6 mi²). 37.8 km² (14.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.14% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 23,558 people, 7,929 households, and 6,525 families residing in the town. The population density is 623.4/km² (1,615.2/mi²). There are 8,352 housing units at an average density of 221.0/km² (572.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 92.60% White, 1.01% African American, 0.45% Native American, 1.71% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.88% from other races, and 2.33% from two or more races. 5.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 7,929 households out of which 52.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.8% are married couples living together, 8.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.7% are non-families. 13.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.96 and the average family size is 3.27.

In the town the population is spread out with 34.0% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 43.4% from 25 to 44, 15.0% from 45 to 64, and 2.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 98.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $74,116, and the median income for a family is $77,384. Males have a median income of $52,070 versus $35,700 for females. The per capita income for the town is $27,479. 2.3% of the population and 1.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.2% of those under the age of 18 and 2.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
