Clear Creek County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of 2000, the population is 9,322. The county seat is Georgetown.

History
Clear Creek County was one of the original 17 counties created by the Colorado legislature on 1 November 1861, and is one of only two counties (along with Gilpin) to have persisted with its original boundaries unchanged. Idaho Springs, Colorado was originally desingated the county seat, but the county government was moved to Georgetown in 1867.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,027 km² (396 mi²). 1,024 km² (395 mi²) of it is land and 3 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.25% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 9,322 people, 4,019 households, and 2,608 families residing in the county. The population density is 9/km² (24/mi²). There are 5,128 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (13/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 96.37% White, 0.28% Black or African American, 0.73% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.02% from other races, and 1.20% from two or more races. 3.87% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,019 households out of which 28.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.60% are married couples living together, 6.90% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.10% are non-families. 27.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.31 and the average family size is 2.81.
In the county the population is spread out with 22.60% under the age of 18, 5.60% from 18 to 24, 32.60% from 25 to 44, 32.20% from 45 to 64, and 7.10% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 108.80 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 110.20 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $50,997, and the median income for a family is $61,400. Males have a median income of $41,667 versus $30,757 for females. The per capita income for the county is $28,160. 5.40% of the population and 3.00% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.80% of those under the age of 18 and 5.60% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
