Harrow & Wealdstone station
|
Harrow & Wealdstone station is both a London Underground (zone 5) station and a national railway station. It was the site of a major rail disaster in 1952 when 112 died and 340 were injured when a Scottish express train collided with the rear of a local train stopped at platform 4. Seconds later a northbound express hauled by two extremely powerful steam locomotives rammed the wreckage, brought down the overbridge and demolished the northern end of platforms 2 and 3.
The station is situated on the boundaries of Harrow and Wealdstone where it is the northern terminus of the Bakerloo Line. National rail trains from this station go to Euston (London), Milton Keynes and Birmingham.
