Template:UTcounty Wayne County is a county located in the state of Utah. As of 2000 the population was 2,509, and by 2004 had been estimated to decrease to 2,494. Its county seat is Loa6.
Its name is of uncertain origin, there being two origins given:
- For Wayne Robinson, whose father Willis E. Robinson served in the Utah State legislature.
- For American Revolutionary War general Anthony Wayne.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 6,388 km² (2,466 mi²). 6,372 km² (2,460 mi²) of it is land and 16 km² (6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.25% water. The Green River, passing through the canyons of Canyonlands National Park, forms the eastern boundary. The San Rafael Desert occupies the center of the county. Thousand Lake Mountain and Boulder Mountain flank Rabbit Valley on the western end of the county, where beautiful forests contrast with the deserts to the east. The small population of the county is centered in Rabbit Valley.

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,509 people, 890 households, and 669 families residing in the county. The population density is 0/km² (1/mi²). There are 1,329 housing units at an average density of 0/km² (0/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.29% White, 0.16% Black or African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 1.24% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. 1.99% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 890 households out of which 36.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.50% are married couples living together, 5.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.80% are non-families. 21.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.81 and the average family size is 3.31.
In the county, the population is spread out with 32.40% under the age of 18, 8.10% from 18 to 24, 22.50% from 25 to 44, 22.60% from 45 to 64, and 14.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 103.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.50 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $32,000, and the median income for a family is $36,940. Males have a median income of $26,645 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the county is $15,392. 15.40% of the population and 12.70% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 22.10% of those under the age of 18 and 8.20% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
