Now that we have the boilerplate introduction out of the way, with respect to your article on John Taylor Gatto, could you add at least a one-sentence summary of this individual to make a stub? --Robert Merkel 01:43, 5 May 2004 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for starting the Saline Valley article! I'm preemptively moving it to Saline Valley, California, because there are a few other places with the same name. User:Leif 08:24, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Parks, Forests and stuff

When you are working on "protected areas" could you make sure to use the full taxobox. Someone will come along eventually and fill in any information you leave blank. It is more difficult to notice the blanks if you remove the lines from the box. Latitude and longitude can be found at USGS names server (http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form) and you can quickly make up any location map necessary (the U.S. blank map is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Protected Areas). I could also make up the maps, if you ask me nicely ;) Rmhermen 17:28, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)

Hey Scott, saw your addition to the Christopher McCandless article. Thanks. Monkeyman 02:47, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Copyvios

Hey Scott. I noticed you marked Las Khorey as a copyvio, but didn't report it at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. I just thought I'd pass along a note in case you weren't aware of the page. Traditionally, after an article's been marked, we follow it up there with an "Article from . - ~~~~" Have fun. - Vague | Rant 06:11, Dec 7, 2004 (UTC)

Ah, got it, thanks. -- Scott <math>e^{i \pi} \,\!<math> 06:15, Dec 7, 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Ram-Man&action=edit&section=new)| talk)

Good catch

Nice catch on the cardschat.com thing. See my comment on the VFD page for more insight. CryptoDerk 16:41, Jan 17, 2005 (UTC)

Cowpea, cowbean

There is no such thing as a cow bean, cowpea is where if should be. --nixie 23:05, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Right, but the article wasn't moved correctly. When the text is just copy/pasted, it leaves the history behind. User:Scott Burley 23:25, Jan 20, 2005 (UTC)
I forgot to get cow bean deleted :/ --nixie 23:38, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Library of Congress

This anonymous addition (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Culture_of_Romania&curid=224643&diff=0&oldid=0) was taken from the Library of Congress website and is a work of the US government, so it's public domain and not a copyvio. However, it would not be well placed there, it should be in other place, maybe women's issues in Communist Romania or something. Bogdan | Talk 21:12, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Problem with your million pool guess

Your guess on Wikipedia:Million pool of June 30, 2006, is in conflict with an earlier guess by Neutrality. Please change it or convince Neutrality to change his. -- Cyrius| 00:43, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Millionth topic pool

You might want to go change your James D. Wales presidential campaign, 2008 guess in the millionth topic pool slightly. Jimbo's first name really is Jimmy. Not really important, I know, but if you want to actually win the thing... -- Cyrius| 16:00, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

 • Who knew? Changing. -- Scott e 01:42, Mar 27, 2005 (UTC)

DYK split

I like the idea. But with the servers being so slow at the moment, I prefer to wait a bit longer. I'll do it tomorrow. Besides it gives others the time to weigh in. Be patient a little bit more :) BTW I should archive the "Questions" section more often anyway. ;) - Mgm|(talk) 21:52, Mar 27, 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations

Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia | explains it all ® 10:06, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

 • Congratulations! Now you can finally act on things yourself instead of just tagging them. Take things slowly at first, but don't worry too much about making mistakes. Almost anything you do can be undone. If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. SWAdair | Talk 10:49, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
 • Congratulations, and you are very welcome! --Merovingian (t) (c) (w) 03:05, Mar 30, 2005 (UTC)
 • And congratulations from me as well. You're very welcome; I've come across you keeping Wikipedia clean many times. I'd offer to answer any questions you have but as I'm a new administrator myself I probably wouldn't know the answer. — Knowledge Seeker 03:28, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)
 • Congrats! As to the thanks: no worries - what I've seen of your work looks good. You should be a fine admin. Grutness|hello? Missing image

Thank You!

Hi Scott Burley,

I would like to thank you for your vote of support and confidence for my adminship, it has been much appreciated. If you need anything in future that requires my attention, please do not hesitate to contact me. :)

Vote on Image:Autofellatio 2.jpg

As you may or may not be aware, Image:Autofellatio 2.jpg is up for deletion. I'm never one to electioneer, and I deplore the necessity of contacting you, but Achilles has contacted all the "delete" voters from the previous autofellatio image debate; and since that has already been done, I didn't think fairness would be served if the "keep" voters were not also contacted. I have attempted to contact only those people who have not voted in the current debate, but the information was hard to sift through by hand and I may have made a mistake. If I have, I apologize. Cheers to you! Demi T/C 19:35, 2005 Apr 7 (UTC)

Largest number of edits

I saw that you removed me from the list of users with the largest number of edits. While I do not oppose this, please provide in the article an explanation how to get included into it - or the warning that one should not put him there without some type of approval or something. If it is already there, put it in bold. Thanks. --Eleassar777 06:49, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Mount Everest, helicopter landing

Can you provide a source for the dispute of the helicopter landing? All I find are plenty of sources for the landing, and no one retracting it. Rl 07:12, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks from Dralwik

Thanks Scott, for letting me know. Don't worry, I just couldn't log in because the friend's computer I was using blocked the cookies neccesary to log in and so I edited under the IP address. But I'm back now, so Dralwik will reappear in page histories. Dralwik 12:08, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
