Greetings! I'm Stephen W. Adair, an American Wikipedian residing in Raleigh, North Carolina. I work in hospital security and am also a former U.S. paratrooper. I discovered Wikipedia on 12 MAR 04 (instantly hooked), and became an administrator on 02 NOV 04. As you can tell from my quick links near the top of this page, most of my WP time is spent tracking vandalism and newcomer tests.
Declaration of bias: I am a registered Libertarian with strong Objectivist leanings. I was raised a Baptist but now strongly favor a scientific outlook. I am prejudiced against exactly one type of person - the person who is prejudiced for any reason but this one. And, finally... Ladies, don't cut your hair. Ever. Long hair is always more attractive than short hair.
Me on deletionism:
I am a self-described "infomaniac" -- if it is information, I've gotta have it. I love knowledge. I really do. Some things, however, do not belong in an encyclopedia. A topic has to meet certain standards to be considered appropriate for inclusion in an encyclopedia. It is not the purpose of an encyclopedia to record everything, but everything of note. Because I do believe in standards, I have even been called an "extreme deletionist." Every so often someone comes along and says "VFD is broken." Here is my rant (http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2004-September/015373.html) in response to several posts on the mailing list that seemed to condemn anyone who would delete anything.
Too many articles, too little time: Often my time online here is very limited and I will come across an article that I'm unsure of, but don't have time to check into immediately. When that happens, I will list it here and eventually try to find time to devote to investigating each. Feel free to help out (please!) and remove from this list any items that you have handled.
