APEC

I just went by how their official website listed these countries. They used the conventional short form for all of them except for Brunei, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. This especially matters for the latter two since the name they used (especially in the case of "Chinese Taipei") would determine whether they would allowed to become a member. The "Republic of China" would never be allowed to become a member - only Chinese Taipei would. Our footer needs to reflect that. And since listed the names used by APEC for Hong Kong and the two Chinas, we might as well do so for Brunei, for consistency sake. --Jiang 18:59, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Spotted Quoll

As I see, you are directly responsible for this article having been created — I was nonplussed to see Adam Carr, whose interests seem to be more in the political articles, has written it. Good call!

But now... we need a picture of the beast, of course! I haven't found any non-copyrighted ones on the web: how about a weekend trip to Tasmania and donating Wikipedia a handful of nice pictures of the Spotted Quoll?

(Only half joking — my experiences with asking for permission for other pictures have been so far unsuccessful, so I fear this would actually be the easiest way to get one :-)

Hi Gaz. Looks fine as-is to me. But I'm brain-dead today. I (perhaps rather foolishly) volunteered to code the HTML of a reasonably extensive web page for a landcare group recently. Haven't done any serious HTML for quite a while. Very rusty. Been working on it most of the weekend. Eyes falling out, brain fuzzy, could get quite serious about a beer or two, some gentle excercise, and some sleep. Adrian User:Apingstone is the main man for images. But you already know that. Best. Tannin (Oh, and I put "Australia" rather than somewhere more specific because I have taken to travelling a lot lately. Next month - I hope - WA. Only state I've never been to. But the indecision is killing me. It's been raining up the Cooper and for he first time in a long while the Channel Country wetlands will be in full of life and growth. I shouldn't miss that opportunity. But I fear it's not practicable without 4WD.)

Hi Gaz,
I'm just wondering what exposure/aperture/settings you used for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:BrisbaneByNight2004.jpg

A request

Gary - do you have higher resolution versions of Image:Great Ocean Road 1.jpg and Image:Great Ocean Road 2.jpg? I *love* them, and I'd like to nominate them on the featured pics, but I think a larger version would help. →Raul654 19:26, May 5, 2004 (UTC)

Transcriber

Transcriber [1] (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=transcribe) is the same as transcriptionist, and I intended it to include both people willing to notate music and type up audio, if the need for either should ever arrive. A list of polylinguists would be great, but I am not one. Hyacinth 20:27, 11 May 2004 (UTC)

Sunset

Holy cow. I'll wait a little bit to avoid overwhelming FPC with weather photos, but both your excellent photo and the other shot on sunset are stunning illustrations--I've seen nice sunset photos before, but these are really exceptional! If I forget to nominate in timely manner, please nominate them yourself and I'll happily vote them up -- excellent work! Jwrosenzweig 17:10, 13 May 2004 (UTC)

John Hancock Center

I was unable to find copyright information on Image:John Hancock Center (Boston) daytime.jpg. Because of this, I have listed it and others on Wikipedia:Images for deletion. I have uploaded a replacement photo called Image:John Hancock Center (Boston) daytime 2.jpg. Just letting you know, MattSal 22:01, May 15, 2004 (UTC)

Footers

I've already started removing some of the non-geogrphaical/non-EU footers. Please help and remove the rest. It's been weeks a no one's objected. --Jiang 06:53, 19 May 2004 (UTC)

To whom it may concern...

My work load had recently risen sharply. I will log in here when I can.

If its urgent, email me. - Gaz 16:39, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Work has not abated. The only plus is that it is all solid PHP coding. - Gaz 02:54, 23 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Image license

Hi,

Your image Image:Dominoes.jpg is currently used in the wikipedia repository of free images Wikipedia:List_of_images, but doesn't actually have proper licensing information attached to it. Would you mind adding a license tag to it? Thanks, Wilke 21:17, 28 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hiding your recent changes bookmarklet

I noticed that you requested the ability to hide your changes from the Watchlist. I wrote a bookmarklet that does this; it's on my page. Freel free to check it out. If it doesn't work, please let me know and I'll try to fix it. JesseW 08:05, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Image:AustNationalHwyMap.png

Hi! Thanks for uploading Image:AustNationalHwyMap.png. You mentioned that you got permission from the webmaster. Do you know if the webmaster gave permission only for Wikipedia to use, with no third-party use allowed, or if he gave permission for it to be licensed under the GFDL so that Wikipedia could use it? Thanks, Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 14:17, Nov 14, 2004 (UTC)

United States Army Air Service

This article is in Spanish (I think, its definatly some foreign language) though I'm not sure how to move it across to there.

RFC pages on VfD

Should RFC pages be placed on VfD to be deleted? I'm considering removing Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Slrubenstein, Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Jwrosenzweig and Wikipedia:Requests for comment/John Kenney from WP:VFD. Each of them was listed by CheeseDreams. Your comments on whether I should do this would be appreciated. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:43, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Ram-Man&action=edit&section=new)| talk)

Pic of the day

Hi Gaz,

Just to let you know that your photo Image:BrisbaneByNight2004.jpg is due to make a reappearance on Pic of the Day on the 21st May. I've used the same caption as last time, but you can make any changes at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/May 21, 2005. -- Solipsist 20:49, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

...and Image:Gold Coast (from The Spit).jpg is coming up again on the 31st May, with the caption at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/May 31, 2005. -- Solipsist 16:49, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

Dominoes

Hi Gaz. I love your photo Image:Dominoes.jpg! You wrote that the original version is 2560x1920. It would be wonderful if you could upload it (with the same name). Thanks! dbenbenn | talk 23:21, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)
