:: Best Quote Ever

"The legitimate object of government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done, but cannot do at all, or cannot do so well in their separate and individual capacities. In all that people can do for themselves, the government ought not to interfere."

- Abraham Lincoln

blankfaze himself!

blankfaze himself!
blankfaze (born Derek Wayne Stricklen on 15 November 1986) is a member of the Wikipedia community, and since 6 July 2004, a Wikipedia administrator.

blankfaze is a social democrat, quasi-atheist, and (usually an) existentialist whose politics can generally be described as progressive/left-wing, though he is conservative/right-wing in instances; for example, blankfaze strongly supports capital punishment. blankfaze's politics also have some libertarian influences, particulary in regard to the theory that government should be less involved in citizens' lives. For a detailed breakdown of blankfaze's political viewpoints on numerous issues, see /Political viewpoints.

Wikipedia activities

In addition to the article pages blankfaze contributes to, he regularly patrols a number of pages in other namespaces: mostly deletion pages, the "In the news" template, WP:RFA, Wikipedia:Image sleuthing, and, of course, recent changes. He also works on cleaning out the VfD backlog. blankfaze also spends a lot of time categorising (because it's addictive), marking articles as stubs, reverting vandalism, and hunting down and zap-zap-zapping candidates for speedy deletion.

blankfaze can often be found on IRC or AIM under the handle blankfaze, if one needs to contact him expediently.

Wikipolitics

blankfaze strongly supports the use of proper British English spelling throughout Wikipedia, as well as the use of the serial comma. blankfaze tends to be an inclusionist. blankfaze also favours stricter guidelines for the attainment of adminship, the development of a better procedure for desysopping, as well as disallowing non-admin users from moving pages (at least until an easier way to reverse page move vandalism is developed). The cause blankfaze has most recently taken up is the expansion of WP:CSD.

Additionally, blankfaze finds fault with or rejects several Wikipedia policies/conventions/theories, including Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Usage and spelling, Wikipedia:Avoid profanity, Wikipedia:Remove personal attacks, portions of Wikipedia:No personal attacks, and m:Polls are evil.

blankfaze strongly opposes any and all censorship. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, in the business of presenting information, not censoring it. blankfaze sees no problem in having images of nudity, images of gore, and profanities, amongst other things, present in Wikipedia content.

Article list

Nowadays, I only keep track of the articles I create. My "article list" got too big, and due to laziness and business, I decided not to continue to update it. However, I keep it on a subpage, in precisely the form it was in when I decided to abandon it. See it at User:Blankfaze/articlelist.
