Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen are games in the world famous Pokémon video game series. They were released on the Game Boy Advance system.

Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen are remakes of the original Pokémon video games released in the US, Red and Blue. As of September 11, 2004, the games have been released in Japan and North America. All kinds of information about the games are currently being uncovered. The North American release date was September 9, 2004. The European release was October 1, 2004. Additionally, Pokémon Center New York had a special pre-release event on August 28, 2004, where people who had pre-ordered could receive their game before everybody else.

The games feature the original 150 Pokémon that was featured in the original Game Boy games and more. Also, the games are compatible with the GameCube game Pokémon Colosseum and the Game Boy Advance games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, as well as Pokémon Box and Pokémon Emerald, though communication with games other than FR/LG must be unlocked by completing a sidequest. Its compatibility with these games has lead its graphics to be very similar (though not identical) to the ones in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Pokémon Water Blue was a rumored name for the North American and European releases of Pokémon LeafGreen. However, it was still called LeafGreen in North America and Europe. It was also suggested that the North American and European name of Pokémon LeafGreen could have been Pokémon Ocean Blue or Pokémon Aqua Blue. These speculations are also false.

It is also rumored that the alleged game could be a third version to Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen, as Emerald is to Ruby/Sapphire. This is still possible, but unlikely, as the next announced games are Diamond and Pearl.

New features

After the games are released there is a period of discovery during which players discover what new features are hidden in the game. Some of the new features in these editions include:

• They are remakes of the original US Pokémon games, Red and Blue. There is no Green equivalent this time around.
• Gender selection has been added like in the previous games Crystal, Ruby, and Sapphire.
• new items such as the VS Seeker, which is what the trainers have on their bag straps in the picture.
• the original 150 Pokémon make a comeback, most of which were not found in the Game Boy Advance games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
• brand new islands have been added called the Sevii Islands, which are initially unlocked by doing certain things within the games.
  • On these new islands, Pokémon that can't be found in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire or within the normal run of the game are available. This includes many of the Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Silver and Gold. Also a breeding center is located on one of the islands, allowing trainers to breed without trading to Ruby and Sapphire.
  • Thanks to the Sevii Islands, there are a large number of legendary, rare, and unique Pokémon that can be found in this game. They include Mewtwo and the legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, who were in the original versions of Red and Blue; Ho-oh, Lugia, and the legendary beasts, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, who were from the Gold/Silver/Crystal games originally; and last but not least, Deoxys, who has an exclusive form with high offensive power when used in FireRed, and an exclusive form with high defensive power when used in LeafGreen. However, to access Deoxys you need an Aurora Ticket, avaiable only from official Nintendo events. Also available at select events is the item that allows to go to the island that has Lugia and Ho-oh. It is to be assumed that GameShark cheat codes can alternately be used to get this ticket.
• Later after you do some events after defeating the Elite 4 you will receive the National Pokédex, by making sure you visited the Sevii Islands with Bill and have at least 60 Pokémon. Professor Oak will then update your Pokédex into the National Pokédex. Until you receive it you won't be able to see or use Pokémon that weren't originally introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue, so all you can use are the original 150 Pokémon. • After you get the National Pokédex, you help a man named Celio gather two items in the Sevii Islands called Ruby and Sapphire. Then you will receive the Network Machine in the Pokémon Center that will allow you to trade from Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Colosseum, access the Unknown Dungeon, and then the Elite Four will be stronger than before.
• Once you gain the Network Machine and trade a pokémon to Pokémon Ruby or Sapphire it will update their Pokédex to National Pokédex and then it will be able to record data on Pokémon that can only be caught in FireRed, LeafGreen, or Colosseum. It is noted though that the National Pokédex in Ruby and Sapphire is different than the one in FireRed and LeafGreen.
• Mystery Events has been added to this game, so you can obtain special items such as the Aurora Ticket through Nintendo promotions like in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. This also lets you change the types of Pokémon that appear in Altering Cave.
