Suicune is one of the three Legendary dogs (the other two being Raikou and Entei) in the games Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal.

Suicune also appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where it uses a blizzard-looking attack (which most water types can learn) to temporarily freeze enemies, it can get pretty effective on heavy/damaged enemies, but like in the pokémon games, seeing it is a pretty rare occurrence

Name Origin

The name Suicune is derived from its Japanese name, Suikun. Also Sui means Water In Japanese. Fully, the name means "water monarch," 'sui' meaning water, and 'cune/kun' meaning monarch. The name is said to suit her/him very well, as it can walk on water, and is a water type.

Pokedex entries

Gold: "Said to be the reincarnation of north winds, it can instantly purify filthy, murky water."

Silver: "This Pokemon races across the land. It is said that the north winds will somehow blow whenever it appears."

Crystal: "This divine Pokemon blows around the world, always in search of a pure reservoir.

Ruby/Sapphire: "Suicune embodies the compassion of a pure spring of water. It runs across the land with gracefulness. This Pokemon has the power to purify dirty water.

Pokémon Anime

In the Pokémon Anime, Suicune made a feature appearance during the movie: Voice of the Forest. It also appears in quite a few episodes, including "For Ho-Oh the Bells Toll".

Strengths and weaknesses

Suicune is a water-type. Therefore- electric moves and grass moves will have the advantage. Suicune is particularly good against rock, fire, and ground-type Pokemon.
