Name origin

"Zapdos" originates from the words "zap", because it is an electric-type, and "dos", Spanish for "two", because it is numerically the second Legendary Bird.

Information

Zapdos is an electric bird Pokémon. Zapdos is yellow and its whole body is zigzagged like lightning. Zapdos is Pokémon #145 and being a bird is both Electric type and Flying type. It is one of the three legendary bird Pokémon. This is the electric one of these birds. In the original Pokémon Red and Blue games for Nintendo's Game Boy system, as well as in the newer FireRed and LeafGreen, Zapdos could be captured at the Power Plant.

In Japanese, Zapdos is called Sandaa (Thunder).

Zapdos is featured in Pokemon the movie 2000 together with the other two legendary birds, Articuno and Moltres. It also appears in the Pokémon anime episode 'Island of the Giant Pokémon'. In this episode, Ash and friends wind up on an amusement park owned by Team Rocket which contains gigantic robotic Pokémon, two of which are Zapdos and Moltres.
