2000s music groups
|
Electronic dance music (house, techno, drum'n'bass) is ubiquitous. The beginning of the decade had the peak and decline of Boy bands and Girl groups, notably those produced from reality TV shows. There was a notable return to raw garage rock'n'roll with groups such as The Strokes, The White Stripes and The Kings of Leon. While, hip-hop music has dominant the Billboard Hot 100 list most of the first half of the decade. Chartwise, 2000-2004 wasn't much different from the music of 1997-1999, although around 2000 there were some changes in taste. Still, the music of the 2000's isn't much different from late 90s music. Toward the end of 2004, in the aftermath of the raw, american rock'n'roll of 2001-2003, British bands began to burst onto the music scene once more. Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian, Razorlight and The Libertines lead the new Britrock pack. Some taking their themes directly from the Britpop movement of the mid-nineties, others developing the sound slightly producing a whole new style for 2005. These already-musical-giants paved the way for such UK bands as Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party and The Futureheads, who are very much similar to the likes of Blur, Suede and Oasis. The sound may be modified and more accessible to the youth of 2005, but the overall feel and excitment in the music is there, just as it was a whole decade before.
