Something Corporate is a rock band hailing from Orange County, California. While they categorize their own music as just rock ’n roll, the industry has filed them somewhere between the emotional rock and pop-punk genres.
In September of 1998, Andrew McMahon, Kevin Page, and Brian Ireland, former members of the band "Left Here," merged with Rhythm guitarist Ruben Hernandez and Lead Guitarist Josh Partington to form Something Corporate. The band's name is an ironic testament of its members' disdain for packaged, industry-driven music. The band independently released Ready...Break in September of 2000.
On March 27, 2001, Something Corporate announced an official change to the band's lineup with William Tell, who was filling in for an absent Reuben Hernandez, replacing Reuben as rhythm guitarist.
After signing with Drive-Thru Records, the band released their first EP, Audio Boxer (2001). On May 21, 2002, Something Corporate’s major label debut album, Leaving Through The Window (2002), was released. It hit #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, #1 on the Billboard Alternative New Artist chart, and 101 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. On October 21, 2003, Something Corporate’s sophomore effort, "North," was released. They launched the album with an appearance on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. North (2003) debuted as #24 on the Billboard 200 with 42,000 albums sold. "Space" was the first single from the album.
On February 4, 2004, Something Corporate confirmed that William Tell had left the band to resume his solo career. Bob "Bobby Raw" Anderson, formerly of River City High, fills in for the remainder of the "North" tour.
In june 2005 Andrew McMahon, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia.
