Can you give details of the copyright status of the image of Suzy Parker you recently uploaded? Unfortunately Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material unless specific permission has been given to release it under the GFDL under which the Wikipedia content is distributed. Public domain material of course is fine.

If you place information on [[Image:Sp-t05.jpg]], it would put our minds at ease about the issue.

I'dd love to see a picture of her on the article, but we do have to be careful ... --Morven 20:41, 18 Sep 2003 (UTC)</nowiki>

Hi, could you cut down the size of the Cybill Shepard pic? It's too big for the page. RickK 02:26, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

The pic looks great! This size is less grainy, too.  :) RickK 01:06, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Hi, Michael -- Despite my numerous changes I like the Trench coat article. If you don't like what I did to your opening sentence I won't fight if you restore it. Maybe the encyclopedia needs some breezier writing. The subject of the article should be bolded in the first sentence, though. I also put a redirect page at Trenchcoat. Trontonian 15:46, 29 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Glad to have contributed to the article. Nice pic, by the way. I'm going to be following up some of the other articles about clothing. The safari jacket could probably be the subject of its own encyclopedia. Trontonian 23:06, 30 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Hi, Image:Jamth.PNG appears to be broken - all I see is a black box. Maybe you need to upload again? Regards, sannse 23:02, 7 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I'll ask on the pump and see if it's just me (I cleared my cache and it still just looks like a black box to me). If others have the same problem then a reload might be best. I'll let you know :) -- sannse 18:05, 8 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I've uploaded a JPEG version for you at Image:Jamthund.jpg. ¬ Dori 02:46, 9 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Hi Michael, your new version didn't work, it seems it's a browser issue - Internet Explorer has problems displaying pngs. I've switched over to Dori's Jpg which solves the problem nicely :) -- sannse 20:21, 9 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Whodunit?

Who keeps deleting my Ellen Bry Stub Article? I would like to see it left as is until I can get some decent biographical info on her... Please and Thanks, Michael Reiter.

That particular article is being deleted in accordance with point 4 on the list of "Candidates for speedy deletion" of the Wikipedia:Deletion policy. I suggest you move the current Ellen Bry article to User:Michael Reiter/Ellen Bry and work on it there until it's up to stub quality, at which time you can move it back. Cheers, Cyan 22:21, 28 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Merry Christmas All. Can somebody tell me why uploading has been disabled, and if it is effecting everybody on Wikipedia? Hope it's nothing I did. Michael Reiter.

It's to do with the current server problems. The technical types are having to fiddle round a lot to keep things going. Once things are more stable again (or once the new hardware is installed) we should get back things like uploading and searching. Regards -- sannse 19:31, 31 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Hello, all. What seems to be the matter? I can't seem to get my article on Barbara Bain to download. I hope some one can help...

Michael Reiter.

You OK now? Everything looks fine at Barbara Bain. -- sannse 10:07, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Yes. Thanks for the come back.

Re: Jamthund article

I just wanted to let you know that I edited your recent changes to the Jämthund images. Since wikipedia articles don't have authors as such--just many contributors--it's not really appropriate to refer to "the author". Also, descriptions of images in articles should generally talk about the image as it relates to the article. Hence none of the dog photos *in the articles* give the owners' names, dogs' names, and so on. But of course if anyone clicks on an image, they get the bigger version *and* the detailed description of the particular photo, as in Image:JamthundA.JPG or Image:BedlingtonTerriers_wb.jpg.

Given all that, I'm so sorry for the apparently recent loss of your friend. It is so hard to lose a dog. I lost my favorite last year, very suddenly, to an aggressive cancer (hemangiosarcoma), and even having 2 other dogs around, there's still a huge painful hole left by his absence. My sympathy is with you. Elf | Talk 18:49, 17 May 2004 (UTC)

Huh--You mean it's not 1994 any more? I still sometimes date my checks (not intentionally) '84, so who can tell--. Elf | Talk 00:52, 19 May 2004 (UTC)

Re: German Shepherd Dog article

Michael,

There is already a link to the List of fictional dogs on the German Shepherd Dog page. That list includes Ace The Bat-hound. There are lots of famous fictional GSDs. I don't think we want to duplicate large portions of that list on the GSD page. If you don't think it is sufficient to rely on the list of fictional dogs, how about creating a page with a List of fictional German Shepherd Dogs, which would also include Ace? It would be challenging to keep the GSD only list up-to-date with respect to the all dogs list. I understand from Elf that this has been done on other dog breed pages. If you don't think this is acceptable, would you please go to Talk:German Shepherd Dog and explain why Ace is so exceptional that he needs to be linked directly from the GSD page. Thanks. Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}

OR

Option 2
I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions to any [[U.S. state]], county, or city article as described below:
{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" with "{{MultiLicensePD}}". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Ram-Man&action=edit&section=new)| talk)

You mentioned that you'd like to take advantage of multi-licensing. It's pretty simple, and the simplest way is to copy and paste the following into your user page (or User:Michael Reiter/Copyright): "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}". Once you copy it in, just save it and it will create a banner which lets everyone know that you've agreed to the terms of the CC-by-sa. MultiLicence Under GNU

Template:MultiLicensePD

You wrote "I believe it is, because I got it from www.us.imdb.com before they cracked down on downloaders... It must be okay, because that's where I got it from; before the afore mentioned site's crackdown."

I apologize, but I have no idea what you mean. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 17:32, Feb 7, 2005 (UTC)

Image Image:MicroSamanthaEggar.JPG for deletion

I've put Image:MicroSamanthaEggar.JPG up for deletion since Image:SamanthaEggar.jpg is a larger version. You can specify the width of an image so there's no need to upload multiple images of different sizes. For example:

  • 150 pixels wide: Missing image
    SamanthaEggar.jpg

  • 100 pixels wide: Missing image
    SamanthaEggar.jpg

"Public Domain, Fair Use"?

Your Image:Krypto Resolved.JPG is marked "Public Domain, Fair Use". It can't be both, so which is it? --Paul A 02:20, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi, User:Paul_A. I'm Michael Reiter. Public Domain is the one to go with.
Sorry about the confusion...
User:Michael_Reiter

Is it? On what basis? I wouldn't have thought that there's been time for the image to have fallen into the public domain in the usual way. --Paul A 01:31, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi, CBurnett. Michael Reiter here. If you want, go ahead and tell whoever the sysadmin is, to delete Image:MicroSamanthaEggar.JPG please and thanks...

Image:Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and Catherine Schell.JPG?

Hi Michael.

I used Adobe Photoshop CS2 to edit the 'Martin Landau, Barbara Bain ...' image. The picture should look better on most monitors, but if you don't like what I've done to your image then you can go back to the original one by clicking on the '(rev)' radio-button, which will revert to the previous (i.e., your original) upload. Regards, Ian Dunster 19:49, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hi again Michael. Glad you liked the altered image. You can download a free trial copy of Photoshop CS2 from the Adobe website here: Adobe Photoshop CS2 (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/) but it's an expensive (professional) program so if you don't feel like paying so much for something that you won't be using a lot then Adobe do a cut-down (but still very good) home version called Photoshop Elements (here: Photoshop Elements (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/main.html)) which is a lot cheaper and may well do everthing that you need.
BTW, You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. it 'signs' your name (like mine below) and using four adds the date so that people know when you left them the message and provides a link back to you.
