Molly Yard
I've linked Molly Yard from List of notable feminists, but it looks like she's also already linked from Eleanor Roosevelt and National Organization for Women, so not an orphan. --Delirium 05:35, Feb 18, 2004 (UTC)

James Mooney
[Moved from Netesq's Talk page:]
- Can you tell me whether the James Mooney that you wrote an article on is the same one who was a prospector in the Grand Canyon in the 1890s and died clambering down a waterfall to which he gave his name? He was from Prescot Arizona. Mark Richards 22:19, 21 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Definitely not the same person. -- NetEsq 21:41, 22 Feb 2004 (UTC)
You're welcome, and thanks
No problem. Thanks for creating Popa Chubby, that's more effort than what I did. Isomorphic 21:57, 22 Feb 2004 (UTC)
There certainly aren't any other navies in English speaking countries that are simply the Royal Navy. Countries that speak other languages do sometimes have navies that are translated into English as Royal Navy. However, they are not known by that in English. An example of that would be the Italian Navy in WWII. That was the Regia Marina, Italian for Royal Navy. However, it was never known as that in English.
Wikipedia standards state that the best-known of any particular name gets the primary article. Since the Royal Navy definetly fulfills that, I see absolutely no reason to move the article at all. David Newton 21:03, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)
You asked me why there should be a list for Naruto's characters and only answer I can give you is "Don't ask me. I didn't make it in the first place :)". Only thing I did was adding explanations of what each character's name mean in Japanese and from where they probably came from. This made the list too long and I had to split it into two parts. The reason I made these additions is simple, without these additions, readers and viewers not fluent in Japanese will never grasp all the meaning of stories.
While it's no definite rule, many Anime and Manga artists take characters' name from something that exist before to make it easy for readers to figure out what kind of character he or she have and also to deceive readers in a good mannered way. Sometimes, artists make a pun or a joke in the character name that is hard to notice if the reader didn't understand Japanese. Take a look at Gundam Wing's characters. While the previous author understood these pilots had names relating to numbers, he didn't notice what a Japanese know. The first character is called 'Heero Yuy'. 'Yui' is a part of a word 'Yuiitsu' which means 'one and only'. 'Heero' is, well a English word understood by most Japanese, 'Hero'. So, it's very clear to Japanese that in the end he is going to solve all problems, why else would he be called 'one and only hero'? I needed to make these changes.

Mark, you're very welcome! I didn't do much though. And thanks for catching the page history thing -- without your comment, it might have been missed entirely. Good work. :-) Have a good day, and keep up the fine editing, Jwrosenzweig 18:11, 4 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Spiders
- Oops - just saw your comment - have I done something awful? Mark Richards 20:55, 4 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Fortunately not, since there was not much to move around. In the future please wait at least a day for discussion. Wikipedia is not like chat room. People work here in their spare hours, so a single exchange in a dialog can take considerable time. Good luck, Mikkalai 21:28, 4 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Sorry Mark, I am not an expert on spiders. I am an expert in information processing, including information about spiders :-) Mikkalai 07:51, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Cotton candy
Oh, no worries; a redirect is fine for now, until someone comes up with a real article on the subject. Cheers, -- Hadal 04:58, 6 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Mark, no problem, redirect is better than delete if one makes sense. I couldn't think of a good redirect so I just hit delete. :-) You're doing good work here: please keep it up! Jwrosenzweig 22:24, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Now you go work on Ormamentation and crime
Hope you get a chuckle out of my near vandalism in the second paragraph of Ormamentation and crime. And then one day it will be a nice article about the famous essay Ornament and Crime -- Kd4ttc 03:44, 9 Mar 2004 (UTC)
thanks for the thanks. But you DID hijack me :-) Whole exercise was a lot of fun, though. Nice to learn about the bit of architectural history. I wonder who the initial poster was. Kd4ttc 15:15, 9 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Ditto on the image. Noel 01:39, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
I could only find one page you'd blanks (in your "User Contribs" list); I zapped that one. If there are more, let me know. Noel 01:46, 16 Mar 2004 (UTC)
PS: If you find some non-logged-in user repeatedly vandalizing pages, find me or another admin who's online (I'm often busy doing other stuff) and we can block them. Noel 01:58, 16 Mar 2004 (UTC)
PPS: If you find a NLIU who is being persistent in vandalism, please add an entry about them to the vandalism page. Keep up the good work! A few more edits, a little more time, and it'll be time to add you to Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship! Noel 04:56, 16 Mar 2004 (UTC)
You're not delusional, when pages are deleted they disappear from your "User Contributions" page (and everywhere else). Noel 00:35, 17 Mar 2004 (UTC)

No problem. In isolation, it could have been true, but in the context of the anon's other edits (all of them vandalism), I decided to wipe the slate clean. :-) Jwrosenzweig 22:16, 24 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Uncodified
I responded to your comments on the talk page. I don't want to make a big deal. My main issue was with the wording. I accept that the current version needs changing. Mind you I think it's easy to overemphasize the degree to which the written elements of constitutional law add up to a (albeit uncodified) constitution. If its only constitutional because Erskine May or the Queen or custom and practice or whatever says so, what's to stop some future leader from deciding that it isn't part of the constitution. For instance I think its crackers that according to some constitutional experts (Norman St. John Stevas is normally asked) Prince Charles couldn't become King if he married a Catholic (or a divorcee or commoner - can't remember which). Who says? Washington Irving | Talk 22:25, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)
username/troll
My first name has "jen" in it, my last name has "god" in it, therefore jengod. :) As for User:Troll, I have no idea who he or she is, but we seem to have gotten off on the very wrong foot!

ZIP codes
Yeah, I'd heard about the telephone directory case; I don't really care whether a complete (or incomplete) list of ZIP codes is present on Wikipedia, since the information is freely available elsewhere, and could be maintenance-intensive. It seems like it'd be useful to include ZIP code info in articles on U.S. cities, counties, and states, so an index of such information would also make sense, but I won't lose any sleep if ZIP code articles get deleted :-) -- Wapcaplet 18:28, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)
CoolDude
I've left him a message, and I'll handle it from here. If he reverts again, I'll reinstate your edits. He just seems a bit confused about how things work here... Isomorphic 22:04, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Pliers
That article showed Wikipedia at its best. I saw that we didn't have an article on pliers, so I put a request. When I came back later in the day it was written, so I just put up a picture :) Good job. Dori | Talk 04:50, Apr 1, 2004 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion
If you add {{msg:delete}} to an article, please list it on Wikipedia:Speedy_deletions. Also, the {{msg:delete}} goes at the top of the article instead of the bottom. Guanaco 23:20, 23 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Star Trek episodes
Well, I think they might be expanded quicker if they have stubs? The stubs were created by an anonymous user, so I added a footer like on the other episodes.
Nom'd

Ambon
Right, eventually. I tried twice before but there's been weird stuff with the browser ... maybe having sixty browsers open at once for a month might have been overbroad.
Anyway, Ambon, yes. Nice to see, I could compare lists of reports perhaps, that's about it though (to the best of my limited knowledge of Maluku, the Churches are the only NGO's the people have to turn to). Happy to look and comment on articles too, I know how important that can be. All Best:) Daeron 15:09, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Hi, could you do me a favor and have a quick look at Papua_(Indonesian_province), hopefully before Wik or John_Kenny pull another revert on it. And give some comment on discussion page perhaps. Thanks if you can.:)
Any chance you could have a look at the peer review request for West Papua (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Peer_review#West_Papua); maybe the page protection too.Daeron 21:07, 7 May 2004 (UTC)
Wiki travel guide
Hi. I've answered your question on Village Pump. In summary, yes, it's Wikitravel. --ALargeElk 17:18, 4 May 2004 (UTC)
Sysop
Congratulations! You are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. Good luck. Angela. 23:54, May 6, 2004 (UTC)
Bush MBA
May I ask why you changed the wording on GW Bush's MBA from "earned" to "was awarded"? This was not an honorary degree. Do you have evidence it was unearned? Also, this is not a minor edit, in that it changed the implied meaning of the item. -- Cecropia | Talk 20:25, 10 May 2004 (UTC)
Your explanation seems fair enough, so I will let it stand. I was just wondering if there was an attempt to diminishthe degree. Regards, Cecropia | Talk 20:32, 10 May 2004 (UTC)

mercury is correct, mars is indeed not, i'll fill in the table. good idea for a section. Badanedwa 03:20, May 13, 2004 (UTC)

Jakarta Post
Just so you know, there's a {{msg:copyvio2}} that we post below {{msg:copyvio1}}. :-) I added it. And I also listed the article at Wikipedia:Copyright problems -- you're right, it needs deleting, but first I think we have to follow policy and give the poster the chance to explain himself. Just thought I'd let you know. :-) Jwrosenzweig 19:39, 14 May 2004 (UTC)
- Hey, no problem. :-) I didn't know if you'd done much with copyvios, so I figured I'd offer some tips. Glad to be of some service. Keep up the fine work, by the way -- you continue to impress me with your attitude and your energetic editing. Jwrosenzweig 20:41, 14 May 2004 (UTC)
Do you have a specific, substantive, original criticism of the version that I have restored? If so, I will answer it. But you're just complicating things if you're merely acting as a mediator in an edit war between Cantus and Wik. 172 20:35, 17 May 2004 (UTC)
You probably won't hear anything different from me. This is not a 'geographical' issue. The issue is encyclopedic organizational principles, particularly heirarchy and precision. The term 'Central Asia' typically refers to the former Soviet republics of Central Asia. That's why other encyclopedias place the five former Soviet republics of Central Asia under this category, but not Mongolia. 172 20:49, 17 May 2004 (UTC)
S-W-A-S
Go for it! :) jengod 21:01, May 17, 2004 (UTC)
I didn't protect Central Asia today. I don't need to read the page protection guidelines either. I read them over a year ago when I became an admin. 172 21:40, 17 May 2004 (UTC)
You're welcome. :-) Enough is enough, for goodness' sake. I hope all participants will take this opportunity to grow up but I have little hope of that -- it's a shame. 172 is a fine contributor and Wik has done good things here (maybe even Cantus -- haven't followed him around), but at this point I cannot see that this community wouldn't benefit if all three of them took a few weeks off and found other outlets for aggression. Edit wars are starting to really get under my skin, and I try to avoid that around here. :-) Jwrosenzweig 22:28, 17 May 2004 (UTC)
