Welcome

Hello, welcome to Wikipedia.

Here are some tasks you can do:

You might find these links helpful in creating new pages or helping with the above tasks: How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should read our policies at some point too.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump, or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

  • You can introduce yourself on the new users page.
  • If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

Again, welcome! Chris Roy 18:15, 11 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Whooness and Yay

Luigi, how long have you been here? :P Saw your name on the VfD page and I thought (yes, I think in 1337 speech) 'OMFG it r luigi30111' Darksun 19:48, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Categories.

Categories don't go on votes for deletion, they go on Categories for deletion. Plus category sizes are not a reason to delete. [[User:Norm|Norm]] 13:31, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Requested articles clean-up

Thanks for your work sorting the requested articles into their categories, don't suppose you want to lend a hand doing the same on Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Sports? We recently reorganised the page into sub-sections for each sport, but have a large number of teams, athletes, competitions etc. that still need to be sorted. Any help would be fantastic. Wikipedia:666,666th pool

I love/hate to be a nitpicker so, wouldn't 666,667th (<math>\approx 2/3<math>) have been a more logical choice? ;-) hydnjo talk 00:04, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

True, very true. But I was commenting on accuracy vs coolness. I totally agree that the attention getting (cool) page name is definitely 666,666th. My left brain unfortunately would have made the less cool choice (so my right brain says). Good luck on your guess and if you miss, well then I hope I win. hydnjo talk 01:54, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
And thanks for all your hard work in setting up this pool. I'm sure that it didn't set up the way you wanted in the first shot (or maybe it did !). Anyway, thanks for an interesting article and adventure. hydnjo talk 02:59, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Wikifying

Thanks for wikifying the Axiomancy article, but:

  1. don't overdo the Wiki-links, especially in such a short article ('table', for example, can be left unlinked), and
  2. remember that the subject should be bolded in the summary. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 20:27, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Spoken Wikipedia

Hi, I've left a question about GFDL compliance with spoken Wikipedia. Do we have to append at the end of the audio a list of authors, the license or a link to an electronic version of such? Fuzheado | Talk 08:27, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for doing all those initial spoken articles--that's great! It looks like people want to see filenames congruent with the article names, so I've put that recommendation in the project page. It might be worth renaming the files you've already done to match. I'd do some of it myself but there's no "move" function for filenames so a re-upload is required. It's probably better if you re-upload the files under new names because 1) You're the recordist so it's better if you identify the license and 2) you can ask for the old file to be speedy-deleted. Thanks! Demi T/C 21:41, 2005 Apr 14 (UTC)

I second that award, for your large number of audio contributions. Keep up the good work. You might like to see the proposal I made at Wikipedia:Barnstar_and_award_proposals#Spoken. — Chameleon 14:21, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

Transliteration spoken word

Nice work, but around the 2:30 mark there is some clattering the background. It sounds like pots. Burgundavia 17:13, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)

Pandeism vfd

Please consider revising the basis for your vote to Delete on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Pandeism to "non-notable." I believe I have adduced sufficient referential evidence to show that this article was not "original research," but simply an exposition on a philosophy which, although real, lacks enough adherents/proponents to be notable enough for inclusion. I apologize for having overestimated the importance of this topic. It was, after all, one of my first posts, when I was new to Wikipedia and not yet familiar with the criteria for notability. -- 8^D BDAbramson (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:BDAbramson)gab 04:42, 2005 Apr 29 (UTC)

  • On second though, since its very easy for those not acquainted with religous details to confuse "theism" with "deism" - as demonstrated by the fact that most of the non-wiki-mirror references on the web do use pandeism to mean pantheism - a redirect would be useful. -- 8^D BDAbramson (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:BDAbramson)gab 06:39, 2005 Apr 29 (UTC)
  • Forget the above. I have found conclusive evidence of the use of the term "Pandeism" dating back to 1833 [1] (http://members.tripod.com/~pc93/anacv1b8.htm), being used by Godfrey Higgins, a follower of John Toland, the creator of pantheism.[2] (http://burghwallis.com/village/articles/higgins.htm). The term is used in a book written by Higgins called the Anacalypsis. -- 8^D BDAbramson (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:BDAbramson)gab 10:24, 2005 Apr 29 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Mind Benders

Hello! I've noticed your interest in creating logos, barnstars, or your past artistic ability! Thus, I just wanted to let you know that the pre-round, an artistic competition, is now open at Wikipedia:Mind Benders (Shortcut: WP:MIND)! The competition is open to everyone and is seeking a logo/trophy, similar to Barnstars, to be placed on every winner's page. We urge you to help us out and submit an entry! Afterwards, the normal rounds, each consisting of ten or more fun, logical, brain-stimulating questions will open. Why don't you give it a try when it opens! Look forward to seeing your contribution. Thanks, Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 21:50, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
