Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,492 km² (576 mi²). 1,490 km² (575 mi²) of it is land and 2 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.13% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 13,843 people, 5,188 households, and 3,507 families residing in the county. The population density is 9/km² (24/mi²). There are 5,611 housing units at an average density of 4/km² (10/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 92.99% White, 0.36% Black or African American, 0.38% Native American, 1.70% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 3.40% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. 6.58% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
