Roosevelt County is a county located in the state of Montana. As of 2000, the population is 10,620. Its county seat is Wolf Point6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 6,137 km² (2,370 mi²). 6,101 km² (2,356 mi²) of it is land and 36 km² (14 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.59% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 10,620 people, 3,581 households, and 2,614 families residing in the county. The population density is 2/km² (4/mi²). There are 4,044 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 40.93% White, 0.05% Black or African American, 55.75% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 2.53% from two or more races. 1.23% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,581 households out of which 40.50% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.20% are married couples living together, 18.90% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.00% are non-families. 23.60% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.89 and the average family size is 3.40.
