Fergus County is a county located in the state of Montana. As of 2000, the population is 11,893. Its county seat is Lewistown6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 11,267 km² (4,350 mi²). 11,238 km² (4,339 mi²) of it is land and 29 km² (11 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.26% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 11,893 people, 4,860 households, and 3,197 families residing in the county. The population density is 1/km² (3/mi²). There are 5,558 housing units at an average density of 0/km² (1/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.10% White, 0.08% Black or African American, 1.18% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 1.16% from two or more races. 0.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
