Lincoln County is a county located in the state of Nebraska. As of 2000, the population is 34,632. Its county seat is North Platte6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 6,669 km² (2,575 mi²). 6,641 km² (2,564 mi²) of it is land and 29 km² (11 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.43% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 34,632 people, 14,076 households, and 9,444 families residing in the county. The population density is 5/km² (14/mi²). There are 15,438 housing units at an average density of 2/km² (6/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 94.70% White, 0.54% Black or African American, 0.51% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 2.65% from other races, and 1.21% from two or more races. 5.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 14,076 households out of which 32.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.90% are married couples living together, 8.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.90% are non-families. 28.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
