Franklin County is a county located in the state of Washington. As of 2000, the population is 49,347. The county seat is at Pasco. It was named after Benjamin Franklin.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 3,277 km² (1,265 mi²). 3,218 km² (1,242 mi²) of it is land and 59 km² (23 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.81% water.

There are 16,084 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (13/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 61.91% White, 2.49% Black or African American, 0.73% Native American, 1.62% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 28.98% from other races, and 4.14% from two or more races. 46.67% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 14,840 households out of which 45.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.80% are married couples living together, 11.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.80% are non-families. 17.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.26 and the average family size is 3.67.
