Ferry County is a county located in the state of Washington. As of 2000, the population is 7,260. The county seat is at Republic. It was named after Elisha P. Ferry, the state's first governor.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 5,847 km² (2,257 mi²). 5,708 km² (2,204 mi²) of it is land and 139 km² (53 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.37% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 7,260 people, 2,823 households, and 1,987 families residing in the county. The population density is 1/km² (3/mi²). There are 3,775 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 75.48% White, 0.21% Black or African American, 18.28% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 2.23% from other races, and 3.46% from two or more races. 2.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,823 households out of which 30.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.70% are married couples living together, 10.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.60% are non-families. 24.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.49 and the average family size is 2.95.
In the county, the population is spread out with 26.90% under the age of 18, 7.60% from 18 to 24, 23.40% from 25 to 44, 29.50% from 45 to 64, and 12.60% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 107.70 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 105.20 males.
