Anime Appearances

Beedrill first appeared in the Pokémon anime when Ash Ketchum was going through Viridian Forest, putting him into a life-threatening situation that only his Butterfree could save him from. The only problem is that it remained an unevolved Metapod during most of the episode.

It also appeared in the Johto National Park during the Bug-catching contest that Ash participated in. Ash caught one and won the contest, but gave it to Casey at the end of the episode.

In Pokémon Chronicles, Jimmy has a Beedrill that he uses in a battle against Marina's Jigglypuff. Because of the speed of Beedrill's wings, it had the Soundproof ability, rendering Jigglypuff's lullaby useless.

Beedrill swarms also appear as large threats or obstacles in many other episodes, or as a Trainer's Pokémon.
